Superintendent's Statement
Welcome to the Fallbrook Union High School District. The Board of Trustees and staff are proud of our district and schools. Through this webpage and links, the district is pleased to inform you of the many quality programs, services, and opportunities for involvement for students and parent/community members. The district serves the communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow, Camp Pendleton, and the Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook. There are four campuses: Fallbrook High School, Ivy Continuation High School, Oasis High School (Independent Study), and a satellite campus on the Pala Indian reservation. Projected districtwide enrollment districtwide is 2831. Fallbrook High School enrollment is projected at 2666, Ivy High School at 79 students, Oasis High School at 78 students, and Pala at 8 students. The district is implementing several strategies to support the goal that all graduates possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effectively participate in the 21st century. Areas of emphasis include engaging students in more critical and creative thinking, students accessing information, collaboration, and producing evidence of learning using technology, and staff, students, and parents using technology to more effectively communicate. Parents are encouraged to participate in our ABI program that provides timely access to student attendance and grade information. Enrollment information is available through each school. The district offers a comprehensive educational program, including opportunities to excel in the academics, arts, activities, and athletics. Student academic interests and needs are met through a variety of educational options. These include a regular high school setting, a continuation high school, and independent study. Within each of these schools, students have opportunities to excel in honors/advanced placement, college-preparation, and career-technical education. There are several after-school programs to ensure that students do not fall behind academically. These include tutorial programs, parenting programs, and intervention programs for students to make up courses during the school year. A limited summer school program is available. Outstanding co-curricular programs play an integral part in the day-to-day socialization of students. Students have an opportunity to join a full array of clubs, including many service groups, at Fallbrook High School, Ivy High School, and Oasis High School. Students participating in FFA and visual and performing arts programs are frequently recognized for their outstanding achievements. There is significant student participation in the athletic program. Our athletes and teams are very competitive. The district is proud to offer many sports, both male and female, at the varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen levels. Financially, the Board of Trustees is responsive in maintaining a budget that is fiscally responsible and operationally viable. Even during these challenging economic times, the district has been able to provide quality programs and services and employ the highest quality teachers for our students. Again, welcome to the Fallbrook Union High School District. We invite your participation in your student's education. Dale J. Mitchell, Ed.D.
